A woman was left shaken after returning to her car to find its window smashed and her belongings stolen while she was visiting a cemetery in Johor.
Sharing her experience on social media, the woman said the incident happened while she was paying respects at a grave early in the morning.
Car targeted within an hour
According to her post, she had parked her car about 200 metres away from the cemetery at around 9am on a Saturday.
Believing there were no valuable items inside, she left her bag in the car for convenience before heading off to clean the grave.
However, when she returned at around 10am, she immediately noticed shattered glass scattered on the ground from a distance.

My first thought was whether someone had set off firecrackers. But as I got closer, I realised my car window had been smashed,” she wrote.
Important documents lost
The entire car interior was left in a mess, with broken glass covering the seats. It was also only then when she realised her bag had been stolen.
Although the cash inside amounted to less than RM100, she said the real loss was the important documents kept in the bag, including her passport, identity card, and bank cards.
“It isn’t about the money. Replacing all these documents and repairing the car is extremely troublesome and completely disrupts my life,” she said.

A case of opportunistic theft
The woman added that the location was deep within the cemetery area, surrounded by graves, and that she had only been away for about an hour.
She expressed shock that such an incident could happen in what she assumed was a quiet and low-risk area.
After lodging a report, she said police informed her that individuals were believed to be hiding in the area, possibly waiting for opportunities to strike.
They don’t care whether you have money or not. As long as they see a bag, they will act.”

She also noted that her bag was not a luxury item, and that there were several luxury cars parked nearby, yet she was the only one targeted.
The woman ended her post by urging others to remain vigilant, especially during the Qing Ming Festival period.
She reminded the public not to leave any bags or important belongings inside their vehicles, even for a short period of time.
Estimated loss of RM800
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the woman revealed that the incident took place at a cemetery located in Kulai, Johor.
She added that she had left her bag visibly on the driver’s seat, admitting that it was an oversight on her part.
She also shared that the total cost of repairing her car and replacing her documents is estimated to be between RM700 and RM800.
