M’sian Woman’s Aussie Mum Gets Harassed By Teens On Women’s Coach

The boys allegedly spoke to her threateningly and questioned her nationality.
Despite the government’s repeated efforts in warning and admonishing male passengers not to trespass into the women’s coach, there are still some who simply turn a deaf ear to it.

An Australian woman was left shaken after a group of teens acted rowdily onboard a women’s coach and even hurled racially-charged comments at her.

M’sian woman’s Aussie mum gets harassed by teens on women’s coach

In an Instagram post by ex-ntv7 newscaster Sheahnee Iman Lee, she wrote that her mum, who’s Australian, was taking the the KTM train from Klang to KL on Independence Day (Aug 31).

However, she was met by a group of male teens who had occupied the women’s only section. When Sheahnee’s mum gently reminded that they weren’t supposed to be there, they allegedly spoke to her in a threatening tone.

They responded threateningly and rudely, saying: ‘We are Malaysian!’ and ‘This is my country!’ They then took videos of her and brought more of their rowdy friends into the coach, causing concern for my mum and the other women there.

“Just because my mum’s skin colour doesn’t meet your acceptable standards, she has no right to speak up? And just because you’re Malaysian, you think you have the right to do whatever you wish?” she fumed in the caption.

Sheahnee also revealed in the post that her mother had worked as a schoolteacher for 40 years, taught a number of local royalties and politicians, and had paid her taxes like any other Malaysian.

“This is my mother’s home too. She chose to stay here most of her life. My mother has witnessed the best and worst of 50/67 of Malaysia’s growth.

“We must do better Malaysia. It may be a small thing for you, but when we raise kids who have no respect for elders, no respect for women, and no respect for rules, I wonder whether this next generation of M’sians will either build or tear down our hard-fought nation.”

KTM responds

Sheahnee later revealed that after she reported the incident to KTM, they reached out to her and informed her that every KTM train has an intercom button to call for help in the event of an incident or emergency.

Additionally, they also told her that train driver can make an announcement and also contact the auxiliary police for further assistance, where the public can call the latter at 03-2263 1194 if they cannot access the intercom.

“I suggested that KTM implements random and regular spot checks in trains and stations to at least ensure the women’s coach serves its purpose.

“While it may be some time before Mum feels safe enough to ride the train again, I thank KTM for reaching out and hope they only get better from here,” she wrote.
