A Malaysian woman has sparked an online debate after revealing that her 25-year-old fiancé doesn’t have a driving licence or vehicle, choosing instead to rely entirely on the LRT for his daily commute, as reported by mStar.
According to her post, she had encouraged him to get a motorcycle licence last year, but he dismissed the idea, insisting it wasn’t necessary.
While she isn’t against public transport, her concern lies in planning for their future together.

The couple is set to move after marriage, and she fears that having only one person who can drive will make things inconvenient.
“I’m not saying he has to own a fancy car,” she explained, “but having at least a licence means he can drive if needed. Right now, I feel like the responsibility will fall entirely on me.”
The post quickly gained traction, with social media users weighing in from both sides. Some criticised the man’s lack of initiative, calling it a red flag before marriage.
“If he can’t even sort out transport now, what happens when there are kids?” one user wrote.
Others defended his choice, pointing out that taking the LRT can be a smart financial move.
They argued that the money saved from avoiding vehicle ownership could go towards a house, wedding expenses, or other priorities.
“Not everyone needs a car right away,” one commenter said. “Public transport works fine if you plan around it.”
