Recently, a Malaysian woman discovered a counterfeit RM50 banknote featuring a “smiling Agong.”
The discovery was shared by the OP on her Facebook, where a photo comparing the counterfeit RM50 with a genuine one was posted.
In the caption, she advised the public to be cautious when receiving cash, especially RM50 and RM100 notes.
Furthermore, she also emphasised the importance of examining banknotes carefully and warned against accepting notes with the smiling Agong’s head, as these are counterfeit.
“Don’t accept the ones with the smiling Agong’s head!! They are counterfeit banknotes,” the post read.
In the comments section, some netizens expressed their amusement, noting that the counterfeit RM50 actually made them smile.
“I don’t know why, but seeing him smile makes me want to smile too.”
However, others argued that the counterfeit note should have noticeable flaws compared to a genuine one.
“On the other hand, another netizen alleged that this could be a real banknote, noting that a counterfeit would have obvious flaws.”
