Whenever we go to food festivals or carnivals, we would expect the food and beverages to be sold at a reasonable price and taste good too.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always turn out this way, as one woman found out after visiting a food festival held in Seremban lately.
Shocked by RM36 ‘rojak buah’
Taking to Threads to share the encounter, the OP wrote that she had bought some ‘rojak buah’ from a stall at the festival, where it consisted of two jambus (rose apples), half a guava, and a small pineapple piece.
However, when she was about to make the payment, she was shocked upon being informed that it would cost her RM35.90.

Do you know why it’s so expensive? That’s because they (the seller) weighed everything together including the plastic bag!
“They wrote on the board that the fruit price is per gram, but they ended up weighing everything. No wonder the seller insisted I take the chilies too,” she fumed.
The OP added that she felt RM35.90 for the ‘rojak buah’ was exorbitant given its small portion. She also said she tried to cancel her order when told of the payment amount but the fruit had already been cut and packed up.

Netizens share similar experiences
In the comment section, netizens were baffled by the amount the OP had to pay for the ‘rojak buah’, with some sharing how they were in the same boat too.
One shared how her mother was charged a whopping RM52.80 for ‘rojak’ believed to have been bought from the same stall as the OP did, leaving her stunned and saddened.

Another shared how her mother simply walked away from the stall and refused to pay when the vendor tried charging her a high price.

Another wrote: ‘I won’t go to any food festivals anymore. The prices are just ridiculous. I once bought some fried chicken and the price was enough to buy a whole chicken. And it was cold and tough — like it had been reheated. I swear I won’t set foot there again.’
