For most people, having fancy cars and houses isn’t only to flex their financial wealth, but also to show others how successful they are in life.
But for this woman, her story shows that sometimes the greatest source of joy doesn’t come from how much possessions one has, but their ability to find contentment in the simplest things.
M’sian woman sells off Mercedes & home for kampung life
In a Threads post, the woman shared that she previously owned a Mercedes and a condominium in Damansara Perdana.
However, these came with heavy financial burdens in the form of debts and monthly installments.
“I bought the Mercedes via a loan and paid RM1,800 a month for it. As for its maintenance and fuel, it was around RM500 a month. When I wanted to sell it, I had to top up RM25,000. My husband paid RM10,000 while I paid RM15,000.

“We then we moved to the kampung and sold our condominium. Woohoo, debt-free! After that, my husband bought an Axia in cash with his own money and even covers the fuel too!”
When she looked back on her decision to sell off the car and house, the woman said that she doesn’t regret one bit of it at all.
Is this a downgrade in life? Not at all! Now I’m living in the kampung with a better quality of life because I don’t have to work so hard just to pay off debts. Alhamdulilah.

In the comment section, netizens expressed joy for the woman and gave her their support too.
‘Having an expensive thing but with debt, and switching to something cheaper but being debt-free is not a downgrade. That’s actually a level up.’

‘This is one of the living proofs that the real pleasure of life is living without debts. When you are debt-free, your heart is calmer, your sustenance is more blessed, and your worship, insyaAllah, is more focused. Living a simple life within your means and being free from debt—that is the true blessing many overlook.’
