If you were given the chance to work at another country for a much higher pay and with better working environment, would you take the offer? Or would you choose to stay put?
A Malaysian woman recently sparked a debate on social media after she encouraged single people like her to consider working in Singapore, adding that it was worth the change.

M’sian woman says singles should work in SG, claims ‘life is so much better’
In a Threads post by @fazierajo, she had a rather interesting proposition for Malaysians who have yet to tie the knot and do not have much commitments to fulfil back home.
To all single people and don’t have heavy commitment in Malaysia, if you have the chance to work in Singapore, please do so. Life is so much better here, purchasing power is high, safe country, everything is efficient.”
She then outlined her food costs as an example to prove her point, writing that she spends only a maximum of S$8 (approx. RM26) for dinner every day, while the average amount ranges around S$6 (approx. RM19.70).
She added that back in Malaysia, her dinner usually costs more than RM10.

@fazierajo also touched on the perception that Singapore’s only affordable for the wealthy, saying that it was largely dependent on the person’s lifestyle.
“People say the Singapore lifestyle is expensive? Unless you like fancy places, then yeah, it’s expensive. But in KL, even non-fancy places are pricey. So far, I’ve been loving it here so much.”
She clarified that money wasn’t her motivation to work in Singapore, but rather, it was an opportunity for her to “experience being alone and living outside of my comfortable zone.
Mixed reactions
The post has since triggered divided reactions from netizens, with some agreeing with the OP’s observations about Singapore and praising her for taking the bold step to explore the world.

On the other hand, some criticised the OP for “downgrading” Malaysia and singing the praises of Singapore.

One netizen also highlighted Singapore’s brutal work culture, adding that it will be “brutal” and “unforgiving” for those past their prime.
