Taking care of personal hygiene is paramount in not only maintaining one’s appearance, but relationships as well as failing to do so will cause the other party to run for the hills.
A woman recently took to X (previously known as Twitter) to share her frustration over her husband’s refusal to keep his body odour in check despite her repeated reminders.
Husband refuses to deal with his body odour
In an anonymous confession submitted to the page @twtsecretsmy, the woman said she was nearing the end of her patience with her husband who simply refused to believe he had a body odour problem.
She added that she had hinted to her husband to do something about his body odour by buying him various types of deodorant and scents. Once, she even went as far as to confront him over the matter.
However, her husband merely dismissed her concerns by not using the deodorants she bought for him and relegating them to toilet ‘decorations’.
Worst of all, he even denied that he had a body odour problem at all, where he would often say, ‘I don’t think I smell (bad)’.
‘I believe he thinks the smell is normal as his parents shared the same problem too. However, his male siblings don’t have this issue.
Sometimes when I don’t turn on the air conditioner during bedtime, I feel like crying as I can’t sleep due to the stench emitting from his armpit!
“While he never reeked of body odour before we got married, he stopped using deodorants after the marriage,” she wrote before asking netizens what should she do with her husband.
Various solutions offered
Netizens came through with their advice, offering several solutions and various products to help the woman’s husband in dealing with his body odour.
‘You can buy Tawas (Alum) at traditional medicine shops. When you’re going to bed, just apply that on his armpit. You can even apply it on his face if you want.’
‘Armpit hair is a problem that could be causing the smell. Shave weekly. When you’re bathing, squeeze and apply lemon (juice) on the armpits. Deodorant brands are also important so try using Nivea Man. His odour could stick to his clothes too so best to buy new clothes.’
‘Try not wearing deodorant for a week. Then bring your armpits close to him and say ‘Eh, no lah. Since when do I smell?’ If he’s human, he will start wearing it (deodorant).’
