If you’ve ever taken an e-hailing ride, you’d probably met your share of cheery or grumpy drivers.
A woman recently took to social media to share an unforgettable experience she had thanks to a Grab driver’s warm and engaging personality during the ride.
What happened during ride
In a Threads post, the woman named Elakiya wrote that she booked a ride from her hostel to KL Sentral as she wanted to head over to Genting Highlands.
When the car pulled up at her hostel, Elakiya was greeted by the driver, who gave her a warm smile and confirmed whether she was going to KL Sentral.
“We talked all the way until KL Sentral. Uncle (the driver) shared about his life how he has a very beautiful wife and two very beautiful daughters.
The way he spoke about them was so full of love that I couldn’t help but feel his daughters are truly lucky to have a father like him,” she wrote.
Elakiya also added that the driver, who was an engineer by profession, was working as a part-time and had made “a simple ride so meaningful” with his kindness and warmth.
New friendships created
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Elakiya, who’s a student at University Malaya, said she gave the driver a five-star review but was unable to tip him as she was facing financial constraints.
“It was an amazing trip that stayed with me long after it ended as his words reminded me deeply of my late mother who used to speak to me in the same comforting way.
“The driver’s daughters even contacted me to thank me for the post and we agreed to stay in touch. I even invited them to visit my home if they ever come to Ipoh,” she said.
Elakiya’s post saw netizens leaving their thoughts as well, with many praising the Grab driver for going the extra mile to make the trip unforgettable.
Grab later commented on the post as well, where it thanked Elakiya for sharing her experience and praising the driver.
