Anyone who orders food online knows there is always a small risk of disappointment.
But one Malaysian woman’s recent experience struck a nerve among netizens after she revealed what she received for nearly RM18; a portion of turmeric fried squid so small that it left her feeling frustrated and heartbroken.
Ordered food while sick, but portion left her upset
The customer, posting under @atiqahmowari_, said she placed the order on GrabFood because she was unwell and unable to leave the house.

However, when she opened the container, she found only a few tiny rings of squid buried under large slices of carrots, long beans and onions.
To the owner, do not run a business. If I was not sick, I would have gone out to buy food myself. But I ordered from you and this is what I get? I do not halal my money to your shop.
“If anyone says I am not grateful, do you really think I deserve to receive food like this?” she wrote.
Vegetables bigger than the squid
Photos she shared show:

- A container packed mostly with sliced vegetables
- Only a handful of very tiny squid rings
- White rice packed separately
In a video she posted, her voice shook as she expressed how upset she was:
“Why is this so cruel? I cannot eat this. I just want to take my medicine. Are you sincere about doing business? This is not about being ungrateful. Look at the squid. It hurts my heart.”
Seller allegedly cooked from condo unit
Another Threads user later claimed that the seller does not operate a physical restaurant.
According to the user, the vendor allegedly cooks from a condominium unit in Subang Jaya, with riders usually waiting downstairs to pick up orders.
They even urged the platform to take action against the listing.

Netizens their own bad experiences
Many netizens urged her to report the seller, while others shared similar frustrations with food quality from online orders.
Some pointed out that the portion was far from reasonable for the RM17.90 price.
One user highlighted how cheap squid actually is: ‘They use calamari. One kilogram is only RM7.50, very cheap. They only gave you a few pieces. It is not right to mistreat customers like this. It will not bring blessings.’
Others urged the OP to lodge a complaint with KPDNKK and ask for a refund from the vendor.
A few also claimed they previously bought from the same vendor and had similar issues.
