M’sian Woman Offers RM60 A Month For Driver To Send Her To Work, Many Say School Van Fees Are Now RM250

Netizens said the RM60 offer was too low.
Transport costs in Malaysia are once again sparking online debate, this time over how much is “reasonable” to pay for daily rides.

A social media post recently went viral after a woman urgently searched for a driver to send and pick her up from work for 22 working days a month.

The requested schedule was from Monday to Friday with 7am pick-up and 6pm drop-off. Her offer was RM60 for 22 days, which is essentially a full month of working days.

The post quickly drew attention, with many questioning whether the amount matched the long hours and petrol costs involved.

She also clarified that RM60 is her proposed monthly payment for a driver to send and pick her up between Sungai Nibong and Georgetown every workday.

But what really got netizens talking was a response from another netizen, who pointed out that school van fees in her area already cost RM250 per month.

She also joked that for those trying to stick to a tight budget, the only remaining option might be walking.

The contrast between RM60 for daily adult work transport and RM250 for school van services highlighted a bigger issue, how rising daily expenses are putting pressure on Malaysian households, while expectations around pricing remain wildly different.

While some netizens shared practical advice on finding affordable transport, others simply related to the struggle of balancing family expenses in today’s economy.

For many, the thread wasn’t just about one RM60 post. It was a snapshot of how every Ringgit now counts whether for getting to work or sending kids to school.
