Hopefully she will be found soon.
A family in Kuching, Sarawak, is worried sick for the safety of one of their members, a 26-year-old woman named Huang Jia Hui (transliteration) after she went missing for half a year.

To make matters worse, her alleged kidnappers have also demanded that her family pay a huge sum of ransom money or risk seeing Jia Hui become a victim of human trafficking.

When she failed to return after 3 days, he suspected something was amiss and contacted Jia Hui’s colleagues on May 19. He was told that she didn’t turn up for work for a week, prompting him to lodge a police report.

According to him, Jia Hui never informed anyone about her going to Thailand and that the family has been trying various methods to contact her but to no avail.

Kidnappers demand RM10,000 ransom

On May 23, Jia Hui’s family posted photos of her on social media in hopes of finding her soon. On June 4, her brother got a WhatsApp call from an unknown man who claimed Jia Hui was with him.

The man also demanded the family to pay RM10,000 in ransom money and threatened to “sell” Jia Hui off to Cambodia if they refused.

When Jia Hui’s brother asked to speak to her, his request was denied. As for the ransom, the family didn’t pay as they found the entire situation to be fishy and never heard from the unknown caller again.

Back when Jia Hui’s family lodged a police report when she went missing, they were informed that there were many similar cases that occurred.

They also tried to track down her whereabouts by checking with the Immigration Department whether she had left Malaysia but haven’t received any updates so far.

We hope Jia Hui is safe and returns to Malaysia soon!
