But what happens when that kind of drama unfolds in real life? Well, one couple just gave an entire neighbourhood a free reality show, and the internet can’t stop talking about it.
A viral video recently captured a woman walking alone on the roadside after an argument with her boyfriend, who wasn’t ready to let things go.
Instead of driving off, he spent a solid 20 minutes trying to get her back in the car.
The back-and-forth even attracted a small audience, including random passersby who couldn’t help but get involved.
From fireworks to full-blown melodrama
The now-viral clip from TikTok, later reposted on X, was recorded by someone who was just minding their business, watching Chinese New Year fireworks, when their attention shifted to the real entertainment—a couple fighting across the street.
At some point, the woman had had enough and stepped out of a white car—believed to be driven by her boyfriend—before dramatically walking off.
But her boyfriend wasn’t about to let her go that easily.
Instead of leaving, he followed her in the car, moving forward and reversing repeatedly to stay close.
It was clear he was trying to talk things out, but she wasn’t having it.
The 20-minute “will she, won’t she” saga
If you thought this was a quick tiff, think again.
According to the person recording, this emotional tug-of-war lasted a whole 20 minutes.
The boyfriend eventually ditched the car and tried reasoning with her face-to-face, but that didn’t go as planned—she reportedly started shouting, drawing even more attention.
By this point, her reaction caught the attention of passing motorcyclists and drivers, some of whom stopped to see what was going on.
The situation had now turned into an unexpected roadside drama.
One motorcyclist finally decided to step in and mediate, gently convincing the woman that maybe, just maybe, storming off down a busy road wasn’t the best idea.
And guess what? The persuasion worked. Whether it was the logic, the embarrassment, or just pure exhaustion, she finally climbed back into the car, bringing the saga to a close.

As expected, netizens had plenty to say about the dramatic roadside standoff, with many divided over who was in the wrong.
While some sympathised with the boyfriend, others had zero tolerance for such over-the-top behaviour.
One user pointed out the obvious danger of the situation, saying:
“If I were the boyfriend, of course, I’d have to persuade her because it’s dangerous by the highway. But after dropping her home, that would be the last time I’d ever be in a relationship with her. We’re breaking up the next day—no way I’m dealing with this kind of over-the-top sulking.”
Another was just as frustrated:
“This is childish. If you want to sulk, at least let him send you home first. If an accident happens, it’s just causing trouble for everyone.”
Meanwhile, some were less concerned about the drama and more about the risk to others:
“If you want to sulk, go do it alone in your room. Please, don’t endanger the people around you. Stupid.”
