A quiet afternoon nap turned into a terrifying ordeal for a 50-year-old woman in Temerloh, Pahang, after a man dressed entirely in black broke into her home and snatched her gold chain worth RM10,000, as reported by Sinar Harian.
The incident happened around 3.30pm on Friday (Oct 25) at Taman Jaya, when the victim and her child were sleeping in the living room.
According to Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, the woman woke up when she suddenly felt her gold chain being yanked from her neck.
Suspect fled on scooter
“The suspect, believed to be a man wearing all black, pulled the victim’s gold chain until it snapped. He then tried to grab her gold bracelet but failed,” said Mohd Nasyim.
The woman suffered scratches on her neck as the suspect quickly fled the scene on a scooter with an unidentified plate number.
Police estimate the total loss to be around RM10,000.
Not the first case in the area
Police also believe the same suspect may be involved in a similar case the day before, where a 78-year-old woman in Taman Temerloh Jaya was attacked in her home.
In that earlier case, the thief stole a gold bracelet and a mobile phone, leaving the elderly victim with minor injuries on her wrist.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery causing hurt.
Authorities are now tracking down the suspect and have urged residents to remain alert, even when at home.
“Always ensure that your doors and windows are locked, even when you’re inside,” Mohd Nasyim advised. “Anyone with information should contact the nearest police station.”
