A Malaysian woman’s social media post about having her salary deducted over a 3-day medical leave has gone viral, sparking outrage online after she revealed her employer rejected a valid government-issued sick leave certificate.
According to mStar, the woman, who sought treatment at a government clinic in Kuala Lumpur, was issued a medical certificate (MC) for three days.
However, instead of being granted time to rest, her employer questioned the validity of the MC and the severity of her illness.
“You really can’t work at all?”
A screenshot of the conversation showed someone believed to be from the HR department asking,
You got three days of MC—does that mean you really can’t work at all?”
Defending herself, the woman replied, “I didn’t ask for the sick leave, the doctor gave it.” She also shared an image of the official MC as proof.

Despite the proper documentation, she later revealed that her salary was docked. To make matters worse, she claimed she also received a warning letter from the company, despite her struggle with depression and anxiety.
