A shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, had a double dose of happiness after a woman unexpectedly went into labour and gave birth to a baby girl on the same day as its 30th anniversary.
The incident was first brought to light via a Threads post by @nunnajmeen, who posted a photo of the birth taking place at the parking lot of 1 Utama Shopping Centre yesterday (Aug 21).
‘A truly unforgettable moment’
The news was confirmed by 1 Utama in an Instagram post, where a baby girl named Amira was brought into the world.
30 years of memories and now a miracle at 1 Utama. On our 30th Anniversary, our everyday heroes welcomed a precious new life at 1 Utama.
“When an emergency call came through, our Customer Service and Security teams acted swiftly and assisted an expecting mother, setting up privacy screens, and ensuring she delivered safely with medical support,” the post read.
The mall also said the mother and child are currently “safe and well” at the hospital, adding the birth of Amira was “a truly unforgettable moment on our 30th Anniversary.”
‘Wan Utama’
Netizens wasted little time in leaving witty comments on the Threads post, with many coming up with amusing names and identification numbers for the baby.
One also joked that the mall should give the mother and baby a life membership for the unusual occasion.
