A Malaysian woman has expressed feeling exhausted after her mother repeatedly complained that the monthly allowance given by her children was not enough.
According to the woman, she gives her mother RM200 every month, while her younger brother contributes RM300.
The siblings began giving her the money after their father passed away.
They also cover the household expenses
Reported mStar, besides the RM500 monthly allowance, the woman said she and her siblings also pay the household utility bills.
They also buy food for their mother every day because she rarely cooks.
“Every day, we have to buy food for our mother because she does not cook. Even when she cooks, she only cooks for her youngest child,” she said.
She added that the house her mother lives in does not require rent, while the electricity and water bills cost less than RM100.
According to her, the money contributed by the siblings should be more than enough to cover the household expenses.
Her mother is also still working and earns her own income.
Mum allegedly says the money is not enough

Despite this, the woman claimed that her mother frequently complained that the allowance was insufficient.
She stressed that she was not trying to be calculative with her own mother.
However, she said she and her siblings also had their own monthly financial commitments to pay.
“Even when we give her more spending money, she does not use it to buy groceries,” she said.
Her mother would allegedly complain that she could not afford to pay for certain things while telling her children that they were fortunate to have already settled their expenses.
The woman questioned who would pay for her and her siblings’ car instalments and other commitments if they did not use their salaries.
“ust because we are working, does that mean we have to help pay for the financial commitments our mother created herself?” she asked.
Feels guilty whenever she buys something

The woman also claimed that her mother would make resentful remarks whenever the siblings bought personal items such as clothes or soap.
Her mother would allegedly say that they were fortunate to be able to buy things while she could not.
However, the woman felt that her mother was in a better financial position as she had her own salary, no major commitments and also received money from her children.
The situation has left the woman feeling emotionally exhausted.
Sometimes, I feel like leaving and keeping to myself. I am so tired of being the daughter,” she said.
