A 38-year old woman was found lifeless inside her Perodua Myvi, which was parked at a petrol station on Jalan Paya Terubong, Penang, on Sunday night (Feb 22).
Her body was discovered after police were alerted of the Myvi being locked from the inside, which led them to request for assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department.
The victim was later identified as Khor Bin Jun, reported MalaysiaGazette.
Car stuffed with various personal items
Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Khairul Annuar Mohd Rahim said that his team received an emergency call at 7.48pm.
He said firefighters had difficulties opening the car door as the inside of the Myvi was brimming with items, forcing them to break the rear passenger-side window to gain access.
Khor’s body was found in the driver’s seat and police discovered several personal items of hers such as clothes, pillows, boxes, bags, food, and drugs.
However, initial investigations found no criminal elements involved in the case.
Khor’s body was later sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
Had history of mental illness
Meanwhile, Khor’s mother told reporters that she was informed by police at 8.30pm about her daughter being found lifeless inside her car.
She added Khor struggled with mental health issues and had received treatment at a clinic for nearly 10 years.
She was unwell and tended to keep many belongings in her car as if living in it, but she returned home every day.
“She came home as usual every day. I was shocked by what happened.”
