Japan’s lost-and-found game is on another level.
On 13 Feb, TikTok user Intan shared how she mistakenly left her iPad at a restaurant in Japan.
When she returned the next day, she was shocked to find it still sitting there, completely untouched.
Left overnight, still there
Intan only realised she had left her iPad behind after reaching her hotel.
By then, it was already 10:30pm, and the restaurant was closed, so she couldn’t call to check.
The next morning, she headed back with her family, unsure if it would still be there.
To her surprise, the iPad was sitting on a signboard outside the restaurant—exactly where she had left it.
She initially thought she had forgotten it inside, but either way, it hadn’t moved.
Even more surprising? The device wasn’t even password-protected.
‘This would never happen back home’
Intan praised Japan’s culture of respecting others’ belongings, sharing that she had also lost a bag before but was able to retrieve it.
She noted how people in Japan “mind their own business” to the extent that they wouldn’t take something that doesn’t belong to them—even if it was left unattended for hours.
In response to a comment, she confirmed that her iPad remained in the same spot for a full 12 hours.
@_intanizzaty Ya Allah punyalah safety dekat JAPAN ni. sebab tu setiap tahun tak pernah skip travel dekat JAPAN. Cuma trip kalini ada 2kisah (tertinggal ipad & beg) & alhamdulillah jumpa. I sangat risau orang ambik sebab kedai ni memang ramai orang beratur nak makan. Orang japan ni punya tahap buat hal sendiri sampai nampak ipad tertinggal pun diroang tak ambil sebab bukan milik diorang. #fyp #fypage #sadstory #ipad #japan #osaka #osakajapan ♬ kembali pulang suara kayu piano – Lyn 🤍
