Studying for a degree is never easy as it’s both challenging and mentally draining. For most students, graduation brings a sense of relief after years of exams and lectures. But for Syaidatunnajwa, it meant so much more.
Nur Syahidatunnajwa Mohamad Naim refused to let stage‑4 lymphoma rob her of her ambitions. Despite enduring a grueling 22 chemotherapy sessions and 15 rounds of radiation therapy, she made it to her graduation day.
Fighting cancer while finishing her degree
A viral video posted by @shafiqalsukri showed Syaidatunnajwa receiving a very special speech from the emcee at the at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tuanku Bainun in Penang when she was getting her degree in Primary Islamic Education.

The resilient graduate appears on stage to receive her scroll with her smile shining very bright.
The emcee didn’t hold back in praise, saying:
Because of her tenacity and strong commitment, she comes here as a symbol of steadiness and inspiration for us all, that illness is not a barrier to achievement.
Despite still undergoing treatment, Syahidatunnajwa’s presence at the ceremony spoke volumes, proving that courage, willpower, and hope can triumph over adversity. She was even honoured as a ‘Special Graduate’.

Netizens in tears
Many was touched by Syahidatunnajwa’s story, with some even shedding tears.
‘She’s so strong. I couldn’t even sit still the other day while waiting to know if I needed chemo. But this sister went through it 22 times and is still this strong, mashaAllah. Wishing her a speedy recovery.’
