No one likes to find ‘extra ingredients’ in the form of insects or amphibians inside their meal, so when they do complain about it to the restaurant, it’s usually taken away and replaced with fresh food.
A woman who patronised a restaurant in Tawau, Sabah, was not only left psychologically scarred but also felt insulted after the staff allegedly snubbed her when she told them of a lizard being found inside her meal.

In a post originally shared on Facebook and later reported by Sin Chew Daily, the woman wrote she was having breakfast at the restaurant when she noticed what seemed to be a lizard’s head bobbing from the soup’s surface.
Her worst fears later proved to be true when she discovered the entire lizard’s body was inside her meal, causing her to drop her utensils and rush to the bathroom to vomit.
Following the horrific discovery, the woman proceeded to inform the staff about it. When a kitchen staff claimed that the lizard had fallen into her food from the ceiling, she questioned its logic, saying, “How could it have just fallen in? Look at the lizard’s body—it’s been cooked until it’s falling apart!”

Despite the woman’s attempts to find some form of responsibility from the staff, they kept shifting the blame to each other, leaving her deeply frustrated.
Not wanting to alarm other customers, she chose to quietly handle the issue at the counter. However, to her surprise, the cashier had already printed out the bill and handed it to her.
“When I asked why I still had to pay after finding a lizard inside the food, the cashier said, ‘If you want to pay, you can. If not, it’s fine too.’
What is that supposed to mean? Do you think I can’t afford the meal? Or are you suggesting I planted the lizard to smear your reputation?
“Even when I said I would be reporting the matter to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the staff still showed no concern and replied bluntly: ‘I know, go ahead!‘”
Needless to say, the woman said the incident has left her with a psychological scar that won’t disappear anytime soon and sarcastically expressed her admiration for the restaurant’s customer service.
