She mentioned that some people recommended the Proton S70, while others suggested it was only affordable with a RM4,000 salary or higher.

The Proton S70 2025 has a starting price of RM75,912.15 for the 1.5 Turbo Executive variant. The price increases depending on the variant.

Netizens slam S70 suggestion
The post, which was uploaded yesterday (17 Feb), has sparked an online debate, with many netizens criticizing the advice and suggesting more affordable options.
‘Hold up. You make RM2.5K and someone told you to get an S70? I make RM30K and drive a City. Just get a Bezza or Axia.’

‘To afford an S70, your salary should be at least RM7K to RM8K. With a RM2.5K salary, just get a secondhand Axia. Whoever advised you to buy an S70 with a RM2.5K salary must be trying to push you off a cliff.’

A netizen calculated the potential expenses on a salary of RM2,500, writing: “If RM2.5K is gross, after EPF = RM2,255. Car loan = RM500. Petrol = RM300. Service/insurance = RM100. Parents = RM400. Food = RM600. Savings left: RM355. Still want an S70?”
Cheaper cars recommended
Some netizens advised her to choose a more affordable and reliable option like an Axia, highlighting its fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs.
One also suggested that models like the Myvi or Persona might be too costly for her salary range.
