M’sian Woman Discovers Gold Bracelet She Bought For RM2,300 In 2002 Is Worth RM18,000 Today

That old bracelet your mum passed down might be worth more than you think.
Buying gold might sound old-school to some, but if your parents or grandparents have ever nagged you to invest in gold, this story might finally convince you.

Recently, a Malaysian woman shared how a gold bracelet she bought over 20 years ago turned out to be an unexpected goldmine.

From RM2,314 to RM18,718

In a post that has since gone viral, she revealed that she had purchased the bracelet back in 2002 for RM2,314.

At the time, it was probably just a simple purchase, maybe as a gift, a keepsake, or just for self-reward.

Fast forward to 2025, she decided to check its value — and was completely shocked. The jeweller told her that she could now sell the bracelet for a whopping RM18,718.

That’s a clean profit of RM16,404, just by holding on to a piece of jewellery.

Netizens were stunned

Malaysians in the comments section couldn’t hide their shock, with many admitting they had underestimated just how much gold prices have soared over the years.

Some even joked about digging through their old drawers to see if they had any forgotten gold pieces lying around.

Some were quick to point out just how significant the value of RM2,000 was back in 2002. One user joked that buying gold for RM2K at that time already meant you were considered “rich,” given how much that amount was worth back then.

Another echoed this by comparing RM2,000 in 2002 to nearly RM20,000 today, highlighting the impact of inflation over two decades.

One replied that this is exactly why people should invest in gold unlike cash, which stays the same in value, gold appreciates significantly over time.
