The food scam saga is back, and this time, our go-to comfort food, nasi lemak, is in the spotlight.
In yet another unfortunate incident of food disappointment, a Malaysian woman share her recent experience of purchasing what she believed to be nasi lemak, only to discover it was literally looks like nasi impit.
Taking it to her TikTok account, @ainnurizzati08_ spilled the beans on the disappointing incident she faced after purchasing RM1 nasi lemak.
“Want to ask if nasi lemak is nasi impit?” the OP captioned the video.

In a brief 10-second clip, the OP can be seen on the video trying to ‘break’ apart the rice chunks.
The nasi lemak rice appeared more like nasi impit, leading to the woman’s audible disappointment.

One netizen attempted to console her, suggesting that as long as it’s edible, it should be delicious.
However, the OP countered, revealing that the nasi lemak not only lacked the expected flavor but also had a sour-tasting sambal.

In the comment section, another netizen mentioned it could be looking this way because it may be packed while it is still hot.
The OP then quickly cleared things up by saying that the rice just tasted like plain white rice, missing that special nasi lemak flavor.

When another netizen said that perhaps the vendor added too much water while cooking the rice, the OP responded, “Yeah, but if you’re aware that there’s too much water for cooking the new rice, it’s a bit disappointing for the buyer. We’ve bought it six times, and all of them are same.”

On the flip side, netizens added a sprinkle of humor to the situation by sharing their witty thoughts.
“This needs some lontong gravy… sambal and rice are ready-made.”

“Lucky to start celebrating Eid early.”
