M’sian Woman Disappointed By RM9 Fried Squid Which Had Thick Batter But Little Squid Inside

omg.
Have you ever fallen victim to the online food ordering game? You know, when the picture looks absolutely mouth-watering, but when the food arrives, it’s a completely different story? Well, you’re not alone.

Recently, a Malaysian woman had a rather disappointing experience when she ordered a dish of fried squid for RM9.10.

What she received was a far cry from what was advertised. Instead of the appetising rings of squid she saw online, she was served tiny bits of squid buried in an overwhelming amount of batter.

The dish looked more like fried flour with a hint of squid rather than the other way around.

The woman, who goes by @nrzaatie on TikTok, took to the platform to share her dismay.

She had ordered “Sotong Goreng Tepung” (crispy fried squid) from a restaurant using a food delivery app.

In her TikTok video, she showed a screenshot of the menu, which described the dish as “squids marinated in flavoured flour and deep fried until crispy.”

The accompanying picture displayed several pieces of crispy squid rings that looked absolutely delicious.

However, the reality was quite different. In the next slide, the op revealed what she actually received: small, ball-shaped blobs of fried batter with barely any squid inside.

The thick coating of batter made it hard to believe there was any squid in there at all.

Her caption for the post summed up the disappointment perfectly: “Not squid fried in flour. But flour fried squid.”

Even netizens were left stunned by the post, which has since garnered over 25,000 views and thousands of comments from others who have faced similar letdowns.

Comments flooded in, with some users jokingly asking, “Is this takoyaki?” while others complained about the thick layer of batter.

“Why is the batter so thick?”

One user even shared their own experience, saying, “I had a similar thing happen with cucur udang (prawn fritters). I was expecting big prawns, but instead, I got fritters with just a tiny bit of prawn. It’s like the prawns were barely surviving in there.”
