What was supposed to be the welcoming of new life for a couple in Kedah turned into one of tragedy after the expectant mother passed away.
Needless to say, the unborn child didn’t survive the tragedy too, leaving a distraught father who lost his wife and child within the same day.
M’sian woman dies while on the way to hospital to give birth
According to a report by Berita Harian, the tragedy involved a 35-year-old housewife, who experienced labour pains on Wednesday (Apr 9), which prompted her husband to call for an ambulance.
This comes after she suddenly passed out and collapsed at their home in Semeling.

Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said police were later alerted of the matter at 5.57pm from the staff of the Emergency Department at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH).
Unfortunately, they had called to inform police that the woman had died, along with her unborn child.
He added the woman was pronounced dead while making her way to the hospital in the ambulance.

Had no pre-existing conditions
Wan Azharuddin said doctors had to operate on the woman in order to remove the baby from her body, where they confirmed that the child had died inside the womb.
“Based on interviews with the victim’s husband, it was found that she had no prior health issues.
“Further examination of the body found no elements of foul play or criminal intent. The victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Department at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for a post-mortem,” he said.
The case has since been classified as sudden death (SDR) by the authorities.
