What started as an anniversary celebration aimed at giving back to customers has taken a surprising turn in Malaysia.
A woman, who participated in the event and won a coveted Labubu collectible while enjoying Asam Laksa, accused the prize of being counterfeit on social media.
The allegation and online uproar
The woman’s posts on sparked heated discussions, with some sympathizing and others poking fun at her claim.

As the incident escalated, the business behind the giveaway stood firm in maintaining their innocence, stating that the prizes were genuine.
The situation escalated further when a store selling Labubu collectibles stepped in to address the allegations.

Lawyer letter issued
Taking a firm stance, the collectible store issued a lawyer’s letter to the woman. The letter accuses her of defamation and outlines several demands, including:
- Public Apology: The woman must issue a public apology on her Instagram, XHS, and Facebook accounts. The posts must remain visible for at least one month and be pre-approved by the store’s legal representatives.
- Compensation: She is required to pay RM500,000 as damages for the alleged harm caused by her statements, which the store claims resulted in direct and indirect losses.
- Cease-and-Desist: The woman must immediately stop making unfounded accusations or comments related to the incident.
- Content Removal: She must permanently delete all posts, photos, and comments linked to her allegations, regardless of whether they explicitly mention the store.
