M’sian Woman Claims Over RM8,000 From PERKESO For A Fractured Foot In Just 3 Days, Here’s How She Did It

She reminded everyone to submit claims within 3 months or they’ll be rejected.
Many Malaysians contribute to PERKESO every month, but few are aware of the benefits they’re entitled to.

One of them is the Temporary Disablement Benefit, which offers support for workers injured on the way to or from work.

A recent case shows just how easy and fast the process can be if you know what to do.

A Malaysian woman recently took to Threads to share her smooth and successful experience claiming Temporary Disablement from PERKESO (Social Security Organisation), urging fellow employees not to overlook their rights especially after an accident.

In her post, she began with a cheeky, “Who doesn’t want free money??” before revealing that she had just received her claim payout on June 13, only three days after submitting the documents on June 10.

So fast!! I love @perkeso.official’s work efficiency,” she wrote with enthusiasm.

A freak fall while sending her child to school

The woman recalled how she had been dropping her child off at school one morning, a regular routine on her way to work when she unexpectedly twisted her foot and fell into a roadside drain next to her car.

It was kinda funny at first, but the pain was like death! Parents had to carry me to the car because I couldn’t stand at all,” she wrote.

Her fiancé rushed her to a nearby clinic, where she got bandaged and immediately requested a referral letter due to how bad the pain felt. She was then referred to her regular hospital, DSH2, and met with a specialist.

An X-ray confirmed her fears; she had a fractured foot, specifically an avulsed peroneal tendon. The injury was so severe it required surgery the very next day.

Fractured in seven places, guys! No wonder I was in so much pain,” she shared.

Two months of recovery and a PERKESO claim approved

Following surgery, she was placed on two months of hospitalisation leave and had to rely on a wheelchair and crutches throughout her recovery.

Since her monthly salary deductions include contributions to PERKESO, she checked her eligibility and found she qualified for a Temporary Disablement claim.

Even though the injury happened while sending her child to school, technically not inside her office yet, the claim was still valid as it was part of her commute to work.

PERKESO contacted her to verify the circumstances of her injury. She explained she was a single mother and had to handle all responsibilities on her own.

They also asked why she wasn’t using public transport, to which she replied that areas like Bukit Damansara were difficult to access without a car.

Despite all the questions, her claim was approved quickly.

Thank you, PERKESO, for making things easier for this single mum,” she wrote emotionally.

Here’s how she did it (and how you can too)

The woman submitted her documents at PERKESO’s Jalan Tun Razak branch.

She received prompt service her number was called within five minutes, and everything was settled in less than 10 minutes.

She was contacted the next day for follow-up, and by June 13, her claim money was in.

She also reminded everyone that claims must be submitted within three months of the accident, or they will be rejected.

To help others going through similar situations, she listed the required documents:

  1. Form 34 (just download it from their website)
  2. Copy of IC
  3. Original MC (get two copies: one for PERKESO, one for yourself)
  4. Payslips for the past six months before the accident month
  5. Attendance record for the accident month
  6. Bank statement from a local bank
  7. Police report from a station near the accident area
  8. Route map from home to work with the route clearly drawn

She also emphasised the importance of getting HR to sign Form 34 before submitting everything at the counter.

While online submission is possible, she preferred walk-in as it allowed her to confirm everything was in order on the spot and get a receipt for her claim.

She ended her post by urging all Malaysian employees to be aware of their PERKESO entitlements.

If you suffer an accident on the way to work, during work, or on your way home from work and are issued an MC for more than seven days, you may be eligible to claim Temporary Disablement.

“That’s what PERKESO is for; to protect us workers. Just follow the steps and prepare your docs properly. It’s your right.”
