If you’re ever gone to a petrol station to refuel your vehicle, you’ve probably seen a sign telling you not to your mobile phone while refueling as it may cause a fire.
However, there are some who still disregard this warning and still use their handphone, just like how one young woman did recently.
M’sian woman caught using mobile phone while pumping petrol
According to a photo shared in a Xiaohongshu post, it showed a young woman filling up her car with petrol at a Petronas petrol station.
However, it also showed her using her mobile phone at the same time, an act considered to be dangerous as it doing so might spark a fire.
The OP later told Sin Chew Daily that the incident took place at a petrol station in Ara Damansara on Aug 2 at around 8pm.
“I saw the woman holding her phone and swiping at the screen while refueling, which made me worried.
Although the woman didn’t take long to refuel, it was still an extremely dangerous action. If an explosion happened, wouldn’t it be a tragedy?” she said.
Divided responses
In the comment section, netizens gave differing opinions on the matter.
Some agreed with the OP, saying that it was best for one to keep their hands off their handphone while at the petrol station so as to not endanger the safety of others.
On the other hand, some argued that a fire will only be sparked when one makes a phone call, not when they’re simply swiping at the screen.
Meanwhile, several netizens criticised the OP for uploading the woman’s photo instead of telling her that what she did was potentially dangerous.
Whatever the reason may be, please DO NOT use your phone while pumping petrol, okay?
