M’sian Woman Caught On CCTV Using Stolen MyKad To Blow RM400 SARA Funds

RM400 SARA funds gone in a flash.
We’ve all had that sinking feeling when money mysteriously vanishes.

For this M’sian couple, it wasn’t just any money, it was their Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) savings meant for household necessities.

The victim, Norasyikin Turmingan, 30, told Kosmo! that she and her husband first suspected something was wrong when his MyKad went missing in early September.

Curious, they decided to check the balance on the MyKasih website, only to find that the money was almost gone.

We were shocked when we saw the SARA balance had only RM1 left, while MyKasih had RM11. We never used it because we were planning to save up to buy household items in bulk,” she said.

She added that in the past, they had avoided using the funds because the supermarket system often went “down”, never expecting someone else would misuse it.

Their checks revealed that the culprits spent nearly RM400 across three different supermarkets on September 4, 6, and 7.

CCTV footage later showed the suspects were a couple in their 40s.

At first, my husband said to just forgive them if they were poor or elderly. But it was hard because the money was rightfully ours. We saved it to buy essentials. That’s why we made a police report,” Norasyikin explained.

She and her husband filed a report at Jeram Police Station in Kuala Selangor yesterday to ensure the suspects are caught.

Calls for tighter security measures

Norasyikin also urged authorities to strengthen the system to prevent similar cases in the future.

“Maybe next time, the system should require a password or at least verify whether the buyer is really the MyKad owner,” she suggested.

Her post on Facebook seeking public help to identify the suspects has since gone viral.
