Buying a first car is supposed to be a milestone moment. The kind where you take photos, sit in the driver seat a little longer than necessary, and feel proud of finally achieving something with your own money.
But for one Malaysian woman, that moment turned sour almost immediately.
Her excitement over purchasing a brand new car quickly turned into heartbreak when her family asked her to give it up for their own use instead.
She handled everything on her own
In her post, the woman explained that she worked hard to make the car purchase happen. She waited for the loan approval, dealt with paperwork, and went through the entire process independently.
Reported by mStar, she said she was proud of finally being able to afford the car through her own effort.
Can I cry or not? I worked hard to buy this car. I waited for the loan approval. I handled everything on my own,” she wrote.
Family wanted her to swap cars
However, before she could even fully enjoy her new purchase, her family allegedly asked her to hand over the car for family use.
They suggested she swap her new car with her father’s old and worn out vehicle instead.
“I have not even had the chance to officially use it yet, and you have already taken it from me,” she shared.
Called wasteful for buying it
Adding to her frustration, she said her family had previously criticised her decision to buy the car in the first place.
According to her, they accused her of being wasteful and taking on unnecessary debt.
I feel pressured. When I was buying it, they kept saying I was being wasteful and that I was adding more debt,” she vented.
