A Malaysian woman was arrested by police after she was accused of physically abusing and trafficking her 47-year-old Indonesian maid in Serdang.
Not long after her arrest at 1am on Oct 20, her husband was also caught by police on Oct 23, reported NST.
Scalded maid with hot water over soy sauce
According to The Star, Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said in a statement that police were alerted of the incident after the suspect’s stepson lodged a report against her.
This comes after he was told by his step-sibling via text message that the maid had hot water poured straight into her mouth for using soy sauce without obtaining permission to do so.
Other abuses also included pinching her chest, pouring hot water onto her leg, and kicking her until her teeth broke.
The couple were brought to the Klang Sessions Court on Friday (Oct 24) and pleaded not guilty.
The court set bail at RM20,000 each with one surety and ordered the couple to surrender their passports.
