A married woman’s alleged double life was exposed after her sister-in-law uncovered that she had secretly married another man, despite still being legally married to her first husband.
The shocking revelation came to light on 6 December, when the sister-in-law, Nur, decided to investigate suspicious behaviour involving her brother’s wife.
According to Nur, the secret marriage had been kept hidden for nearly a year before it was finally exposed.
Found living with another man during the day
According to Sinar Harian, Nur said that she went to inspect a house believed to belong to her sister-in-law’s second husband at a residential area in Batu 11, accompanied by police officers and local residents.
Upon arriving, she was stunned to see an unfamiliar man inside the house.
I was shocked to find a man I didn’t recognise inside the house. I asked him to show his marriage certificate before calling his wife, my sister-in-law, out,” Nur said.
What happened next left her even more shocked.
When she came out, the man told me that my sister-in-law was actually his wife,” she added.
Allegedly married in Thailand since last year
Nur mentioned that the man, who is from Johor, claimed that he had been married to her sister-in-law for about a year.
He allegedly told Nur that the marriage took place on 5 November last year at the Songkhla Provincial Islamic Religious Office in Thailand.
Following the discovery, Nur immediately contacted her brother to inform him of the situation.
According to her, her brother and his wife were never divorced and had been living together normally, appearing just as happy as any other married couple.

Two homes, two husbands, just 19km apart
Nur further claimed that her sister-in-law had been leading a double life by splitting her time between both men.
During the day, she stays at her second husband’s house. At night, she comes home to my brother,” she said.
What made the situation more alarming was the short distance between the two homes.
The distance between my brother’s house and the man claiming to be her second husband is only 19 kilometres,” Nur added.
“If this had not been exposed, we wouldn’t know how long we would have continued being deceived. It also tarnishes the sanctity of Islam,” she said.
Allegedly filed false police report
Nur also claimed that about a week after the incident, her sister-in-law lodged a police report accusing her of harassment.
She alleged the report was false and said she has since filed a complaint with the Tanah Merah Religious Office, but claimed no action has been taken so far.
This is no longer a personal matter. It involves the sanctity of Islam. Authorities must act immediately according to existing laws,” Nur stressed.
To make matters worse, Nur said her sister-in-law is still refusing to move out of her brother’s house despite the allegations.
As of now, there has been no official response from the religious authorities regarding the matter.
