A routine drive turned deadly after a car crash in Johor claimed the lives of a 58-year-old woman and a one-year-old baby yesterday (Apr 10).
The horrific three-vehicle collision occurred at around 3 pm along Jalan Bestari heading towards Pekan Tiram, involving a Perodua Myvi and two Toyota Hilux vehicles.

What happened?
According to Harian Metro, Seri Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak stated that the Perodua Myvi was travelling from Jalan Bestari towards Pekan Tiram when it suddenly made a right turn at a junction.
Unfortunately, a Toyota Hilux approaching from the opposite direction couldn’t brake in time and slammed into the right side of the Myvi.
Seconds later, another Hilux coming from Ulu Tebrau also crashed into the back of the Myvi, resulting in a devastating impact.
2 dead, 3 seriously injured
The 58-year-old woman driving the Myvi was pinned in her seat and died at the scene due to severe internal injuries.

A one-year-old baby, who was one of the five passengers in the car, suffered serious head injuries and later passed away while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI).
Three other passengers, an 83-year-old woman, a 62-year-old woman, and a three-year-old child, were all seriously injured and are now being treated in the Red Zone of HSI.
As for the Hilux drivers, the 23-year-old man behind the first Hilux sustained only minor injuries, while the 27-year-old second driver escaped without a scratch.
Police confirmed that the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
