A netizen shared her bittersweet journey of trying to catch the New Year’s Eve fireworks at KLCC, which ended on an unexpectedly brighter note.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Ms. J had initially planned to watch the fireworks at KLCC Park but underestimated the crowds.
Arriving at Masjid Jamek LRT station at 11pm, she and her friends found it impossible to board the congested trains.
Undeterred, they decided to walk 40 minutes to KLCC, assuming they could still catch the fireworks from outside the park.
However, upon reaching, they realized they couldn’t enter the park, which offered the only clear view of the fireworks.
Standing outside, they waited in vain, only to find themselves ‘pranked’—there was no way to see the display from their spot.
She admitted that the situation boiled down to not doing proper research. “We thought the fireworks could be spotted nearby too, but we were wrong,” she shared.

But just as the night seemed like a letdown, she turned around and spotted a spectacular fireworks show from KL Tower.
The unexpected view saved the night, giving her New Year’s Eve a surprise happy ending.
“It was like a plot twist we didn’t expect. KL Tower’s fireworks made the entire journey worthwhile,” she said.
It wasn’t just one or two people—many online have shared their frustrations after heading to KLCC on New Year’s Eve, only to be disappointed by the lack of visible fireworks.
