M’sian Vendor Fined RM300 For Wearing Slippers While Selling Food At Ramadan Bazaar

He pleaded guilty to the charge.
A vendor at a Ramadan bazaar in Hulu Terengganu was handed a fine for not wearing the proper kind of footwear while operating his stall.

The vendor, 24-year-old Shahrul Iskandar Shamsulyuzi, pleaded guilty to wearing slippers while handling food at his stall at the Kuala Ping Ramadan bazaar at 4.45pm on Mar 5, 2025.

The charge was framed under Regulation 32(1)(b) of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009, which provides for a maximum fine of RM1,000 upon conviction.

Shahrul Iskandar was fined RM300 by magistrate Nur Athirah Hashi at the Kuala Berang Magistrates’ Court, reported Kosmo!

In a separate case, another vendor, Shamsulyuzi Abdul Latiff Teo, was fined RM2,000 for selling baby pineapples which contained cyclamate, an unauthorised non-nutritive sweetener.

He was charged under Regulation 133(3) of the Food Regulations 1985 for committing the offense at the Kuala Berang Ramadan bazaar at 4.45pm on Mar 19, 2025.
