‘You Take More, You Pay More’ — M’sian Vendor Defends Charging Man RM30 For Mixed Rice

Fair?
In yet another case of customers alleging they were overcharged for their meal, this time it involved a man accusing a popular stall in Taman Sentosa, Johor, of doing the same.

However, the vendor has since addressed the accusation, saying the portion he took justified the pricing.

‘Felt like I got slapped’

In a Facebook post shared by the man, he wrote that he was stunned when he was charged RM30.20 for his meal, which consisted of white rice, curry chicken, braised pork, egg, and vegetables.

“I got a shock when I was asked to pay. I didn’t ask how much it was per item. I’ve been eating (the stall’s) famous fried chicken on and off for 10 years….until I really got ‘slapped'”, he recounted.

Following the man’s claim, the vendor provided an itemised breakdown of his meal which led to the RM30.20 price tag, inclusive of a 6% Sales and Services (SST) tax:

She also slammed the man for manipulating the situation to make her look bad, writing: “If you want to take a photo, take it from above and not from the white rice’s angle. Are you not aware of how much braised pork you took?”

When contacted by China Press, the vendor said the braised pork costs RM5 to RM6 per scoop, and that the man had taken more than two scoops.

She added that she initially wanted to take a photo of the man’s meal to promote the stall, but stopped herself when she saw his sour expression.
