A Malaysian woman shared a hilarious and spooky encounter on her way to a company dinner when her Valak-inspired costume not only shocked a police officer but also might have helped her avoid a fine for expired road tax.
The woman, identified as Fazwin, posted about her experience on her social media account, X, detailing how her ghostly appearance as the infamous demon nun from The Conjuring franchise caused quite a stir at a police roadblock.
A costume that stole the show — and the police’s nerves
Fazwin, who was on her way to her company’s annual dinner, had gone all out with her look, dressing as Valak.
Her detailed costume, complete with eerie makeup and the character’s signature habit, looked so realistic it could send shivers down anyone’s spine.
While waiting in line at the roadblock, Fazwin started worrying about how her terrifying appearance might affect the police officers.

Lucky escape
She continued to share her story under the thread, stating that when it was her turn to be stopped, the elderly officer who approached her car visibly jumped in fright.
The uncle was clutching his chest, saying, ‘You scared me! I really thought it was a ghost,’” Fazwin recounted. Feeling apologetic, she quickly explained herself and apologized.

Adding to the drama, Fazwin realized that her road tax had expired on January 14, just a few days prior. However, the officer, still recovering from the shock, let her off without issuing a fine.
Fazwin later explained that she chose to dress as Valak for the dinner because the theme allowed her to experiment creatively with makeup and because the costume was easy to put together.
“Plus, the ‘Best Costume’ prize was RM500,” she said, though she didn’t end up winning.

Netizens’ reaction
Netizens found the incident hilarious, with many praising Fazwin’s costume and lamenting her loss in the contest. Some joked that her costume had at least won her a free pass at the roadblock.
“Sis, the fourth photo, if I saw it in the toilet, I’d want to kick it. 😂😂😂😂”

“Sis, the third photo seriously looks like a depressed Valak.”
