A Malaysian traffic policeman has won praise online after a heartwarming video showed him helping an elderly man cross a busy road and ending the moment with a respectful hand-kissing gesture.
The Dungun Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department in Terengganu uploaded the video on its official TikTok account.
The video explains that officers were directing traffic during the Chinese New Year holiday when they noticed an elderly man struggling to cross the road due to heavy traffic.
Waiting under the scorching sun
Seeing the elderly man waiting under the scorching sun, one officer stepped in without hesitation to escort him safely across.
The video shows the policeman gently holding the elderly man’s arm as they crossed.
When they reached the other side, the elderly man extended his hand for a handshake to express his gratitude.
Instead of just shaking hands, the officer respectfully removed his hat and performed the traditional hand-kissing gesture, a sign of deep respect in Malay culture.
