A driver believed to have suffered a sudden heart attack was quickly rushed to the hospital after traffic police and the Civil Defence Force stepped in to assist when the vehicle carrying him became stuck in traffic.
The rescue operation was first captured on video and later uploaded on TikTok by @daengrukka, where it subsequently shared on Facebook by the Tawau district police, drawing praise from netizens.
Police and civil defence officers step in to help
According to comments under the video, the patient had suddenly suffered a heart attack and was being rushed to the hospital by family members.
However, their car became trapped in a long line of traffic along the way, slowing their journey to get medical help.
After learning about the emergency, traffic police and members of the Civil Defence Force quickly stepped in to assist by escorting the vehicle and helping to clear the road.
Patient transferred to ambulance at intersection
In the video, traffic officers can be seen coordinating vehicles at a nearby intersection to make way for both the car carrying the patient and an ambulance approaching from the opposite direction.
Police at the junction directed traffic and cleared lanes so both vehicles could reach the intersection safely.
Once the vehicles arrived, officers helped medical personnel and the patient’s family transfer the driver from the car into the waiting ambulance.
The ambulance then rushed the patient to Tawau Hospital for emergency treatment.
Netizens praise swift rescue effort
Police later said that the district’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division acted immediately after receiving information about the situation.
Working together with the Civil Defence Force, they helped escort the vehicle and manage traffic so the patient could be transferred to the ambulance quickly before being taken to the hospital.
