The discovery was made yesterday (Dec 30), prompting authorities to launch a thorough investigation at the scene.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein bin Omar Khan confirmed the discovery in a phone interview with China Press, stating that while police believe the body belongs to Yap, DNA testing is required to formally confirm her identity.

Seen riding to her boyfriend’s house that day

Yap went missing on Dec 19 after informing her family that she was heading to a lion dance training session at a club located near Batu 11, Cheras. However, she never returned home, leaving her family in anguish as they desperately searched for her.

According to the lion dance coach, Yap met a former male trainee who was around 16 years old two months ago, and the two quickly developed a romantic relationship.

Before Yap’s disappearance, CCTV footage near her boyfriend’s residence showed her taking an e-hailing ride to his house on the morning of the day she went missing.

However, her boyfriend claimed that after having a meal together with Yap, they had an argument before Yap left the scene.
