A 17-year-old teenage boy claimed that he was assaulted by an e-hailing driver recently all because he closed the car door too hard for the latter’s liking.
Following the alleged assault, the teen later lodged a police report at the Kajang police station, reported FMT.
Punched on the head, face and body
In the police report, the boy said he had booked a ride from Saujana Palma Residence to Kajang Perdana.
However, the driver drove past the intended drop-off spot and refused to reverse despite the teen’s pleas to do so as there were a group of stray dogs.

“I asked the driver to reverse as there were many stray dogs at the spot where he stopped. However, he ordered me to get out of the vehicle right away.
When I got out and closed the door, it shut loudly. The driver came out and hit me on the head, face and body.”

As a result, the teen sustained injuries to his left thumb and cheek after falling during the alleged assault.
Driver suspended
In response to FMT’s enquiries, the e-hailing company said the driver in question has been suspended.
It added that it’s working with authorities and helping the teen to ensure a thorough investigation.

“We are sorry the passenger had this experience on our platform. We uphold a strict code of conduct for both our driver-partners and users, and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the code.”
This isn’t the first time e-hailing drivers have beaten passengers over car doors, with a previous incident taking place in 2023:
