Yesterday, we reported of a Malaysian teacher who was found dead inside her home in Johor after she went off the grid for months.
In what seemed to be a case of an individual passing away in silence, further details have emerged which suggest her poor mental state may have been the driving factor behind her lonely death.
Was depressed due to loan shark debts
In a statement by the Johor Education, Information and Communications Exco, Aznan Tamin, he said he was given troubling information from the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) regarding the case.

According to him, the teacher, Lo Kwan Fong, claimed to be suffering from depression, but did not produce any supporting documents from the hospital and had no known medical history.
“The main issue in this case was her being heavily in debt, including debts owed to loan sharks,” he added as quoted by Sinar Harian.
Meanwhile, Iskandar Puteri district police chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said Lo’s body was discovered after her neighbor noticed a foul smell and lodged a report at the Nusa Bestari Police Station at 8pm last Thursday (June 12).

“A post-mortem conducted by a forensic expert from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) found the cause of death to be unascertained due to severe decomposition.
“The case has been classified as a sudden death and no criminal elements have been found,” he said.
Investigations also found that Lo was an only child who lived alone after losing both her parents on May 1, 2010.
