A young teacher has shared her overwhelming stress after being repeatedly burdened with technical and computer-related tasks that should have been handled by her more senior colleagues.
According to mStar, the issue began when the headmaster assigned all computer and data-system responsibilities to her simply because the senior teacher in charge was not proficient with technology.
“Learn how to use a computer!”
The teacher expressed her frustration at having to carry responsibilities far beyond her grade level, all because her senior colleague refused to learn.
If you want to be a teacher, please learn to use a computer, laptop, printer and so on. I’m exhausted. As a lower-grade teacher, I’m forced to take on duties meant for higher-grade staff,” she said.
She added that the senior teacher’s lack of digital skills resulted in her being saddled with everything related to school data systems.
Because she doesn’t know how to use a computer, the headmaster dumped all the tasks on me. All the student data systems—everything—I have to do. I’m just a junior teacher here. I’m really, really tired.”
Tried to teach her colleague, but nothing worked
The young teacher shared that she had attempted to teach her colleague how to use essential software such as PowerPoint, Excel, and even basic functions like opening a computer.
Despite her efforts, the colleague still refused to take on the responsibilities.
I already taught her how to enter student data into the system, but she still won’t do it. She doesn’t even know how to turn on the computer, or how to access WhatsApp on a laptop,” she added.
The heavy workload and lack of support reportedly caused her to cry nearly every day, leaving her mentally and physically drained.
