Since the start of the new school term last week, numerous stories involving students have been making headlines.
Aside from the usual antics of preschool and first-year students, one of the most widely discussed issues has been the overcrowding of students in classrooms.
Concerns over overcrowded classrooms
Reports have emerged claiming that some classes are accommodating up to 40 to 50 students at a time. This situation not only disrupts students’ focus but also raises concerns about their overall comfort in the classroom.
In response to these concerns, a dedicated teacher, along with parents, took the initiative to provide additional fans for students in a classroom at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Desa Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.
A video shared by @amirulhakimiali on Threads showed a male teacher, identified as Amirul, installing extra power sockets to support the newly added fans.

The class has 45 students, but only those in the middle can feel the breeze from the fan,” he wrote in the caption.
Parents donate additional items
What caught people’s attention was the teacher’s hands-on approach, as he worked tirelessly to set up the new fans, which were donated by parents.
Beyond the fans, parents also contributed other essential items to improve the classroom environment.
Among the donated items were stand fans, table covers, bookshelves, and curtains.

Thank you to the parents who donated 45 table covers, four fans, six bookshelves, and eight Ikea curtains.
“May our children feel more motivated to pursue knowledge,” Amirul added.
Netizens praise teachers’ and parents’ efforts
The video, which was also shared on TikTok and has garnered over 23,000 views, quickly caught the attention of social media users.
Many netizens praised the efforts and collaboration between teachers and parents in ensuring a comfortable learning environment for students.
“I remember my friend’s child who just started Year 1… came home from school complaining to his father that the classroom was hot… His dad ended up buying a fan for the class. 😅”

“Salute to the hardworking teachers and parents who are generous.”

“This year, the teacher didn’t ask for donations/gotong-royong (communal work) for the class..
We’re okay with contributing effort or some money, but since it’s quiet, maybe the class is already fine. 😆😆😆”
