In a moving act of love, a father from Kuala Terengganu recently gifted his daughter a second-hand phone to replace her worn-out device as she heads off to university.
The gift, though modest, touched the hearts of many after a video of the surprise was shared on TikTok by user @ceokuterer, capturing a heartfelt father-daughter moment that resonated with viewers.

In the video, the father revealed that while he and his daughter now live miles apart, with her studying at MARA University of Technology (UiTM) in Machang, Kelantan, they remain closely connected in spirit.
Referring to his daughter as “kakak,” he explained that while her current phone had a cracked screen and a battery that drained quickly, he wanted to do everything within his means to support her new chapter in life.
“Though it’s a second-hand phone, I hope you’ll like it, kakak,” he said in the video, expressing his hope that the surprise gift would be meaningful despite its simplicity.

The touching clip shows the father subtly placing the upgraded device—a newer model of her old iPhone—on the table as they dined together.
The daughter, unaware of his plan, was visibly shocked and overjoyed upon noticing the unexpected gift before her.
Overcome with emotion, she lifted the phone, feeling the weight of her father’s love and shedding tears of gratitude as she kissed him on the cheek.
Got help from a good friend
Speaking with WeirdKaya, the father shared that his daughter love to take photo with her phone and he always wish to buy her a better phone.
He once promised to buy her a new phone if she achieved 2-3 As in her SPM exams, but she surprised him with 5As.

Once he had enough money and ready to pay his friend, his friend suggested donating the amount to a mosque, religious school, or someone in need.
The father explained that the video was initially intended as a keepsake for himself and his daughter, capturing a special moment between them.
However, he hopes it can inspire other parents, reminding them that the worth of a gift isn’t about its price tag but the heartfelt value it holds.
