Living away from home can be tough, especially when you’re miles away from local comfort food that never fails to satisfy you and always fills your hunger pangs.
A student who’s pursuing her studies in London recently missed Malaysian food so much that she went ahead and spent a whopping RM87 on plate of nasi lemak just to lessen her homesickness.
M’sian student spends RM87 on nasi lemak in London
In a TikTok video shared by the student named Lilisan, it showed her dining at a Malaysian restaurant named Melur in London.
As seen in the clip, she ordered a plate of nasi lemak which came with rice, hard boiled egg, ikan bilis, sambal, and fried chicken, which cost her 15 pounds (RM87)
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Lilisan said that the nasi lemak she had in London was no match for the one she had back in Kelantan.
“Shops serving Asian cuisines in London often have to cater to the locals’ taste, which is why the sambal and other elements of the dish don’t taste the same as they do back in Malaysia.
“The total bill came to around RM619.80 and me and my friends chose to split it among ourselves so that we won’t be burdened by it,” she said.
Lilisan also shared that she has been receiving suggestions and recommendations for other Malaysian restaurants located in London like Putera Puteri and Roti King.
“This has made me more eager to explore and try out different restaurants before considering a return visit to Melur.”
