Nowadays, it’s getting more difficult to find food stalls that offer meals at affordable prices in light of rising living and food costs, which have forced many to tighten their belts or worse still, skip meals to save money.
A stall in Setiawan, Perak is gaining attention after word got spread around that it was selling a plate of noodles from as low as RM3.50 per plate. Seriously!

M’sian stall sells noodles from as low as RM3.50
According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, it received word from readers about a stall offering meals at super affordable prices and decided to check it out for themselves.
It eventually led them to a kopitiam named Xin Ang Hwa located in Kampung Koh, where they saw a menu which clearly stated the prices of its meals.
Based on the menu, the cheapest options are the clear soup noodles and dry noodles at RM3.50 per plate, while curry noodles and laksa are sold for RM4.00 per plate.
As for the Fuzhou red wine beef noodles, it’s sold for RM4.50 per plate and is only available on Thursdays and Sundays.

‘Our way of giving back to loyal customers’
In an interview with the Chinese daily, stall owner Liu Liye (transliteration) said her family have been in the business for 30 years and ran the stall at the kopitiam for over 10 years.
While Liu admitted that the price for a plate of dry noodles was increased RM3.20 to RM3.50 due to increased food costs, she reiterated that she has no plans to raise the price as long as they are still making a profit and can sustain her family.
When asked whether she does make a profit by selling food at such a low price, Liu said she was, adding that “no one does business without making a profit”.
We just believe in making small profits and quick turnovers. Also, this is our way of giving back to our loyal customers as a token of appreciation for their continuous support.

Saw a rise in business
Liu also added that ever since an individual shared on Facebook about her stall’s food prices, there has been a sharp rise in customers flocking to buy her noodles.
“Because of the prices, not only are locals stopping by, but foreign workers as well, who often come in big groups on Sundays,” she said.
The stall operates only in the morning and is closed every Wednesday.
