A heart-stopping moment was captured on camera as Malaysian and local rescue teams worked together to pull a survivor from the rubble following a devastating earthquake in Myanmar.
According to a video posted on Facebook by Pasukan Mencari Dan Menyelamat Khas Malaysia (SMART), the Malaysian team, alongside local emergency personnel, successfully retrieved a man who was still alive beneath the collapsed debris.
Working hand in hand with Myanmar
The dramatic rescue was part of Operation MyTeam Relief (MAS-01, SMART), which took place on April 2, 2025.
The mission saw Malaysian responders working hand in hand with Myanmar’s rescue forces in a race against time to locate and save trapped victims.

In the video, the injured man—covered in dust and barely conscious—is seen being carefully lifted from the ruins by a group of helmeted rescue workers.
Medical personnel on-site quickly administered IV fluids and provided emergency aid before placing him on a stretcher.
Malaysian forces remain on the ground
The scene unfolded amidst the shattered remains of a collapsed building, with SMART members and local teams displaying seamless teamwork and urgency.
The earthquake, which struck earlier this week, has caused widespread destruction in parts of Myanmar, leaving many homeless and in urgent need of assistance.
Malaysian forces remain on the ground to aid ongoing search and rescue efforts.
