A proud mother moment turned emotional for Malaysian singer Linda Rafar after her son achieved excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Her son, Syed Rezaqiib Syed Kamaruzaman Al-Yahya, scored 9As in the national exam, which was announced today (Mar 31).
“Sad, emotional, but proud,” says Linda

Reported by mStar, Linda, whose full name is Azlinda Abdul Rafar, 48, shared that she felt a mix of emotions upon hearing the news.
Sad and emotional at the same time, but also proud. I’ve already promised to buy him a car, God willing,” she said.
The singer’s heartfelt reaction quickly resonated with many, especially parents who understand the sacrifices behind such achievements.
Plans to send him overseas to become a doctor
Looking ahead, Linda revealed that her son, fondly known as Aqiib, has ambitions to pursue medicine.
He wants to be a doctor. I’m also planning to send him abroad to continue his studies,” she said.
She added that she hopes to support his dreams by giving him the best opportunities possible, including furthering his education overseas.

Last three months before SPM made a difference
Linda also shared that her son showed significant changes in the months leading up to the exam.
According to her, Aqiib became more disciplined and focused, especially in the final three months.
“At first, he studied as usual. But in the last three months, he stopped all unproductive activities and focused on prayers, reciting the Quran, and attending tuition classes,” she said.
Umrah experience left a lasting impact
In addition to his academic efforts, Linda believes a spiritual experience also played a role in his success.
She shared that Aqiib had the opportunity to perform umrah before sitting for SPM, which deeply moved her.
“What touched me the most was that before SPM, he had the chance to perform umrah and pray at the Prophet’s resting place for nearly three hours without being asked to leave,” she said.
For Linda, it was not just about the results, but also the growth her son showed along the way.
A big congratulations to Aqiib on his outstanding achievement, and all the best as he takes the next step towards his dream of becoming a doctor.
